STATEMENT REGARDING CEDAR STREET

Please disregard any private signs in the vicinity of Cedar Street indicating that the street is (or will be) closed.  This matter was recently in litigation. The court recently ruled that Cedar Street is a public way and therefore will remain open for public travel.  Anyone having questions or concerns regarding this matter should contact the Board of Selectmen’s Office.  Thank you.

DOUGLAS SAFETY EXCHANGE ZONE

The Town of Douglas has created a Safety Exchange Zone in front of the Police Station. These 2 reserved parking spots will enable people to meet for property exchanges without the fear of being robbed or assaulted. The area will be monitored 24 hours a day by the Police Department and all activity in the parking lot will be video recorded. Special thanks to John and Adam Furno for erecting the signs and painting the parking spots.

ROAD WORK - Paving and Reclamation

Paving and Reclamation will begin on September 10, 2018 for a section of NorthWest Main St from Wallis St to Douglas Hill Way and also a section of Wallum Lake Road from SouthWest Main St to Wallum Lake State Park.  Construction should last approx. 4 weeks.  While under construction it will be open to local traffic.  Please be patient as we improve your roads.

Pursuant to Massachusetts General Laws, Chapter 30B, the Town of Douglas invites vendors to offer bids for the supply of #2 heating fuel to the Douglas Municipal Center and Douglas Middle School for Fiscal Year 2019, as specified in the documents available below. Sealed bids (Three (3) hard copies) are due no later than 2:00 PM on Thursday, September 20, 2018 at the office of the Town Administrator, 29 Depot Street, Douglas, MA 01516.

VOLUNTEERS - Martin Road Park

Fourteen volunteers from The River Church and the Children's Haven, both based in Douglas, scraped and painted the dugouts at Martin Road Park.  The youth volunteers worked tirelessley for 2 days on this project. Click here for pictures.

With funds budgeted for the Martin Road Playground, the Highway Department spread 100 yards of much needed mulch.

MA COMMUNITY ELECTRICITY AGGREGATION PROGRAM - 2017 UPDATE

The original 2-year supply contact has been renewed for a 3-year term with Public Power. The new electric rate is fixed at $0.10122 per kilowatt hour (kWh) from January 2018 to January 2021. This compares favorably with the Basic Service rate for National Grid from November 1, 2017 to April 30, 2018 which will be $0.12673 per kWh.  Click here for complete updated information, and here for Massachusetts Electricity Aggregation Program Update Video.
