STATEMENT REGARDING CEDAR STREET

Please disregard any private signs in the vicinity of Cedar Street indicating that the street is (or will be) closed.  This matter was recently in litigation. The court recently ruled that Cedar Street is a public way and therefore will remain open for public travel.  Anyone having questions or concerns regarding this matter should contact the Board of Selectmen’s Office.  Thank you.

The Soldiers Monument, located at the Town Common, was dedicated in 1908 to the memory of Unknown Soldiers and Sailors that were lost during the American Revolution, The Civil War and the Spanish American War. The Town Monuments and Memorials Committee rededicated the 3 inch Griffin Rifles that flank the monument on Veterans Day in 2014 with funding from a matching MA Department of Veterans Services grant. For more information see the Veteran Directors FY14 Annual Report.

NATURAL HAZARD MITIGATION PLAN

Hazard mitigation is the effort to reduce loss of life and property by lessening the impact of natural disasters.  Mitigation is not disaster response; its goal is to reduce hazard impacts before a disaster occurs.  A mitigation plan identifies natural hazards and the risks they pose to residents, infrastructure, property, and natural resources, and it prioritizes projects, policies, education and procedures for reducing these risks, now and in the future.  Click here for more information.
